Why You Should Be Merry This Christmas

Hi,

Last night I spent 10 minutes staring at this giant Christmas tree downtown. As the children run around the playground and as the lovers hold each other's hands-- I watched the Christmas lights while they were blinking to a beat I created inside my head and it got me thinking how different I've reacted to Christmas in the past years compared to now. I was alone in the park where I could have chosen to be with my family or be next to my boyfriend or friend but I wasn't. And I didn't want to. 

December used to be my favorite month and apparently I've grown bitter towards the holidays. And honestly, I'm not really certain why. But last night-- I've felt the holiday spirit again...

...because this little boy wouldn't stop singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas and asked for money.

But I gave him food and it made him cry and he hugged me.

I have come to the conclusion that throwing away kindness like confetti makes you feel good no matter what situation you may be on. And to me, that's what Christmas is all about-- giving and not expecting something in return other than the uplifting feeling of making someone's day.

And if you have unlocked that level of happiness-- then you deserve that fucking merry Christmas.

Also beer. Because errbadi deserves a bottle of beer this year. As a matter a fact, you can drink it right now. Unless you have alcohol problems, then don't.
