If Not Now...

... then when?

Kill me. Kill me now.

Or you might as well do it tomorrow.

Or the next day.
Or the next day.
Or the next day.
Or the next-

-darn it.

Driving me nuts.

I've become one of the guilty procrastinators in our planet. I don't know what's going on. This is so not me. Projects and homework are piled up on my desk and I don't do them until the last minute. And when I do, I usually wing it and get a good result. But not now. I'm horrible at winging it! Horrible, I tell you! Horrible!

My talent at executing perfect tasks in the last minute...

It's gone.

*rocks back and forth in the corner of my room* I can see the light. Mom? Grandpa?

In all seriousness people, procrastinating is something most of us are guilty of. For us Filipinos, we might link it to the thing called manyana habit in which we always rely in the magical realm of tomorrow. We often promise ourselves that things will be done by the end of the day and actually we don't. Instead we take all the things that we're suppose to do and build a mountain of tasks for tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow. Or the day after that. Until we eventually...

Laziness is different from procrastination. Laziness is completely being a slob.  You know what you're suppose to do and you're simply deciding not to do it at all. Procrastination, however, is knowing what to do and agreeing to do it sooner or later.

The world gets busier and busier every single day. Time becomes more precious than ever and things that we do and how we do them gets far more critical compared to before. If you get left out, you have a lot of catching up to do. Lame excuses don't work anymore unlike before.

We have to know our priorities; what comes first and what comes after. Winning over procrastination starts from there. Get a planner or a journal. Make a to-do list. Download a time management app. Or better yet, act mature. Stop wasting time. You know better.

And I'm not just talking about tasks and chores that we need to finish within the 24 hour span of time. If we try to escalate this a more deeper sense, it all comes down to lingering on things that actually make a big difference in our life. Like, getting our goals done. Saying I love you. Speaking up. Things like that. Why do we need to linger forever when we can actually do it now and get it over with. What is there to lose? Your pride? Your friend? Your money? Nah. All those things can still be recovered. If you ask me, the worst thing to lose in life is time.

I'm actually going to tell you a short story. But maybe I'll just share it to you on my next post. Or the post after that. Or the post after that. Or-

Haha. Have a great time!

LOVE,
